The services offered are on issues that as an international student I struggled to get help on. The SASS team is passionate about helping international students and are willing to provide practical help. My conversation with them was insightful and gave me knowledge on how to navigate my schools’ international student website and find the relevant information I needed.

I was applying to grad school and needed to write a SOP (statement of purpose essay) which sucked because I’m not a fan of writing. I drafted up my first revision and sent it to the SASS team. They provided me with detailed feedback, questions to consider, challenged me on the responses I provided. It was all worth it because I got admission.  If you’re looking for someone to assist with your SOP, do yourself a favor and work with them to take your application up another level. They will not disappoint. Don’t fumble your admissions package because you didn’t ask for help from the SASS team. 

The SASS mentors are driven and highly motivated. They provided support not only with the admissions application process, but also helped to keep me focused and optimistic in the face of doubts. I really like how the mentors create ample time to give feedback. While they reviewed my SOP (statement of purpose essay) they gave in depth comments that helped me correct mistakes or reword sentences in order to convey my thoughts in a coherent manner. They played a critical role in helping me come up with a robust application.

Initially I was focused on a specific program, but the SASS mentors enlightened me to look at other areas of study similar to my program of interest. Thanks to my mentor, I have found a plethora of schools to apply to since then. They literally opened my eyes and mind to other doctoral programs. Had we not had a conversation, I would have restricted myself to just one program which was not offered in a lot of US schools.

Working with the SASS mentors over the last few semesters has been amazing. They helped me through my college experience as a first generational student, and imparted their wisdom with how to navigate classes. Their tips for time management and staying focused have really helped and changed how I go about school.

I had my resume reviewed by the SASS team. I sent a draft resume, and they helped with my grammar, spelling issues and assisted with refining & building my resume for target job applications. Additionally, they helped me quantify the accomplishments in each of my previous work experiences. Their services are highly recommended to anyone looking for career, academic coaching or resume reviews.

I was validated and supported with a lot of the struggles that I was dealing with in my PhD program. My mentorship sessions were a very safe space for me to share the difficulties that I was facing in the first year of the PhD program. I could talk about things without the fear of being judged, and also walked away with very tangible action items that I could use to implement and improve the challenges I was facing. I felt very heard, validated, and empowered by the end of the first year of my PhD. I made a lot of progress and that was because of the support that I received. It was tailored to what I needed.
